CO-OP began as a volunteer operated organization focused on providing pro-bono counseling
and advisement services to individuals throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
In 1999, three young women gathered together to discuss how they could best serve their communities and
create dynamic change. Formally incorporated as a non-profit organization in August 2001, CO-OP
provides a variety of programs and services designed to have a broad impact on the people and
communities it serves. Now entering its 10th year of operation, CO-OP is making great strides
towards expanding its services and we are proud of the legacy we have created.
In September 2003 we received our first federally-funded Upward Bound grant with a bonus year for
scoring within the top 10% of all applicants nationwide. We secured full federal and state tax-exempt status
in 2005. In 2007 we were awarded continued funding for our initial Upward Bound grant and a second
grant to service students in the City of Inglewood. In October 2008, CO-OP moved into an upgraded facility
in the Airport Office Center.
As we approach our 10-year anniversary, we have a lot to be proud of and much more work to do.
CO-OP has an established legacy of helping people; it's what we do!

|CO-OP is not your typical non-profit.
We have a history that is rooted
in evaluative inquiry
and we firmly believe that this
adaptability has been the key to our success.
